The world is running out of oil creating serious shortages of nearly everything in the future, climate change is also a major concern causing droughts, earthquakes, floods etc and to make matters worse, the economic health of the nations is in trouble. There is one great comfort.
There shall come a day when all true believer's shall be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, what a comfort!
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Each year in Vietnam the people celebrate the New Year around the end of January, (Tet Celebrations) Everywhere you looked the city was decorated with lovely lemon coloured blossoms and yellow marigolds and yellow chrysanthemums. Large pots like the one above decorated the footpath outside our hotel.
In Hoi An we went for a bicycle ride, I stopped and sketched this pretty home and soon the owners came out and invited us in and gave us a tour of their house, including a walk on their roof deck. They could not speak a word of English but with hand signals and nods etc we managed to understand one another. As a thankyou I gave them a brightly coloured cotton handerchief as a gift. The Vietnamese peple are so lovely and gentle and friendly.
It is a must if you are in Hanoi, to see the wonderful puppets which act out their story on water. It was a very enjoyable and creative experience, so cleverly performed by the people of Hanoi in Northern Vietnam. Musical instruments "native" to the region were employed by the local talent as well.
This is an example of French colonial architecture, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The houses, usually narrow and often about five stories tall are often painted bright and lovely colours.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts..."

'Unpeeled apples are high in pectin, a special form of fiber that has been shown to lower cholesterol levels, bind and eliminate toxins from the GI tract, and help relieve constipation . Fresh apples contain phytonutrients including ellagic acid, which, as noted previously, possesses significant anticancer properties. Those who eat apples regularly have been shown to have far fewer colds and upper respiratory infections than those who do not. The old saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away", has a great deal of medicinal truth to it!

For He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm
have gained Him the victory."
We are in a society of information
overload..some experts say 'we get
more information in 72 hours than our parents
received in a month, and most people
do not have the skills to deal
with it. They let new things in, but don't
get rid of old information they wanted to act on.'

I forgot to write how my macarons
turned out. Well they were tiny.
I did not pipe enough mixture for
each one. Good for a mini mouse tea party!
And I think they are a little
overrated or that could just be my cooking.

Last week we dined at the Mt Dandenong
Hotel and enjoyed a delicious meal in front of a large open fire.It was a monday night and there were quite a few people in the hotel.
We were invited to listen to a choir in another room.
We were fortunate to enjoy this local choir who sang some gospel songs, some Beach Boys, some Italian love songs etc etc.. How lovely!

This is my favorite place in the
Dandenongs. It is a treat to enjoy
a coffee in this modern and attractive
cafe and sit in front of the open fire
just enjoying the view across the road,
and watching people walk by
or reading the day's newspaper.

Oh what shall she wear

she frets and she sweats
gets even upset..nothing to wear

He sees his friend the armadillo

Madam Ramsey also is in a frenzy
hopes to dine in style.

oh so vain, reaches for the sky.

Let the potsherd strive

Shall the clay say to him who

Woe to him who says to his

Today while I was going through
the checkout at the supermarket,
I was served by a
young man who had served my
daughter and I a few days earlier.
He told me that he thought my
daughter was lovely and that
she had 'made' his day.
He told me that he had been
having a dreadful day and that
when my daughter was friendly
to him at first he was overcome
but upon realizing she was genuine,
he felt so much better.
It makes you realize how
important a smile, and a friendly
attitude can bring so much healing to others.
"This is my commandment,
that you love one another as I
have loved you."
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, BLESS
THOSE WHO CURSE YOU,
DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO
HATE YOU, AND PRAY FOR THOSE
WHO SPITEFULLY USE YOU
AND PERSECUTE YOU
THAT YOU MAY BE SONS

FOR HE MAKES HIS SUN
RISE ON THE EVIL
AND ON THE GOOD,
AND SENDS RAIN
ON THE JUST AND ON THE UNJUST."

Those who dream by eve

with eyes open
to make it possible."

Her tortoise is quite nauseas
has eaten a rotten pea.
His name is Mister Leigh.
Her room mate Miss Exhaustias
is also quite
poor- sick- as,
and her pet frog Morstica
won't eat what's endorsed to her.
Their dear little sparrow sits

They met at a dance in Catonia.

Miss Peerson drops in for a reason
her cockatoo will not chew.
Meanwhile Moralla the terantula
has gone to the zoo
and taken her pink umbrella too.
She knows she is lucky
her cousins in Cambodia
recently wrote to her
with news not so good for her:
for roasted tarantula
yes roasted tarantula
they outrageously serve there
yes it's true!
So Moralla so horrified
tells her cousins mortified,
they must come and
live in Australia too!
(This poem was inspired after reading a story by the lovely Alice Pung a young and well known Melbourne writer who kindly wrote for "The Big Issue" -the July edition. She wrote about how fortunate we are in Australia to be able to keep family pets. Under the Pol Pot Regime in Cambodia it was a treat for her father to find a family of scorpions to eat. Some Cambodians were forced to risk danger and eat cane toads, scorpions, banana leaves or creeping beings in order to avoid starvation. How we take so much for granted!)

not to be missed
Masterchef at it's best.
It is the show
that is surely blessed.

Gary in suit, Matt with cravat

And Sarah too, so beautiful

Poh, Chris or Julie?
All professional now surely
All plating up duly

that brave step,
We at home have been inspired,
opened our cookbooks wide.
Learning new tricks
and becoming little chefs,
yes we are inspired
our mouths open wide.
Thanks to all on Masterchef!

to me, saying:
"Yes, I have loved
you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness
I have drawn you.
Again I will build you,

You shall again be adorned

And go forth in the
dances of those who rejoice."
THE HUMBLEST PERSON IN THE MOST POWERFUL OFFICE IN THE WESTERN WORLD
Emma Daniel Gray 16-4-1914 - 8-6-2009
Emma Gray who faithfully cleaned the Oval Office at the White House each night for 24 years died at a nursing centre in Cheverly, just outside Washington, aged 95.
Gray kept the office clean for six Presidents and each night when she came to the leader's chair, she would pause, and say a quick prayer, asking for blessings, wisdom and safety for each of them.
Gray was born in Edgefield, South Carolina and raised by her grandfather, who had been a slave. "He was sold three times," she told a newspaper about 10 years ago. "He paid his boss' son 20 cents to teach him to read, and when he could read, he loved the Ten Commandments so much that people in the town began calling him Uncle Ten."
She married William Gray and they had seven children. William died in 1966 and she never remarried. Her family and friends treasured her cooking, especially her specialty, sweet potato pie. And she had a way of boosting the spirits of everybody. "She learned early that you set the tone for your environment," her pastor, Bishop Royce Woods said.
"That's why church was so important to her. She understood it to be that kind of institution that was conducive to what you needed spiritually, emotionally and sometimes financially." he said. "She preached her own eulogy by the life that she lived."
When she died she was the matriarch of six generations. She is survived by five of her seven children, 35 grandchildren, 61 great-grand-children and many great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Washington Post. Excerpt from the Tribute section of The Age ,July 7 2009.
Psalm 23 :5,6 "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever."
I thought I would post this song
tonight as I will be away and
will not have access to a computer
to post up a picture this week.
This song, taken from an old hymn
book "Sacred Songs and Solos" compiled and
sung by Ira D. Sankey, was a blessing to me
during a time of suffering in my life.
Maybe it will help someone else.
